December 15th 2008: Lac de Guéry, Auvergne

December 16th 2008: Le pont du Gard, aqueduct constructed by Romans, Languedoc-Roussillon

December 17th 2008: La dune du Pyla , next to Arcachon, more than a 100m high, 500 meters wide and 2.7km long, it is the highest dune of Europe.

December 18th 2008: Hossegor, one of the best surfing beaches in the world, in the Landes department .

December 19th 2008: Grottes de Lascaux are one of the most important ornate Paleolithic caves that exists, in terms of both number and aesthetic quality of its works. It is sometimes nicknamed the “Sistine Chapel of Wall Paintings”. The paintings and engravings that it conceals have not permitted precise direct dating: their age is estimated at between 18 000 and 15 000 years before the present age, based on dating and analyses performed on objects discovered in the cave.

December 20th 2008: Mont Saint-Michel (photos), Medieval Abbey in Basse-Normandie, on the UNESCO Heritage list since 1979, is a tidal Island, 170 meters above sea level and visited by over 3 million people every year.

December 21st 2008: Le vieux port of La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime. (video and more pics). Very important in the History of France and the Hundred Years war, it is one of the most beautiful spots you need to visit if you are on the Atlantic Coast.

December 22nd 2008: Château de Val, Cantal (also known for its cheese), Auvergne, fortress from the XV century surrounded by a lake.

December 25th 2008: Place Bellecour, Lyon, formerly known as the Royal Square, la Place Bellecour is located between the Rhône and the Saône rivers in the Presqu’île district. In the center of this square (one of the largest
in all of Europe) is the famous statue of Louis XIV on horseback by Francois Lemot.

December 29th 2008: Chamonix, French Alps, the most famous destination for skiing in France.

December 31st 2008: Collioure, on the Mediterranean seaside, a few kilometers away from Spain.

January 3rd 2009: Rochefort’s military harbor from the XVII century, Charente-Maritime , Atlantic Coast.

January 4th 2009: Hendaye, the most southwesterly town in France, marks the border with Irún, Spain.
