A friend of mine sent me this questionnaire… thought I could recycle it:

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?  Wrapping paper even though I’m not the best at it.  In France, La Croix Rouge often has scouts or volunteers wrap gifts for you in malls and then you donate whatever you want.  Gift bags kinda mean “I didn’t have time to wrap your gift, sorry dude!”

2. Real tree or Artificial? Real is the way to go.

3. When do you put up the tree? Since it’s a real one, you don’t want it in your house before 15 to 10 days before Christmas because pines are quite annoying sometimes… and you don’t want a dying tree for Christmas Eve.

4. When do you take the tree down? After “Les Rois Mages” Three Kings Day I’d say (January 6th) - for which you make a “galette des Rois”

5. Do you like eggnog? Never tried it… scary thing.  I’m not a big fan of creamy-milky-thingies… I more a Vin chaud kind of person (mulled wine)

6. Favorite gift received as a child? hard to say… probably my Game Boy

7. Hardest person to buy for? one of my brothers

8. Easiest person to buy for? myself

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? We try to mail cards; but for Christmas, ecards are a don’t.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? don’t know… oh yeah… the wrong Playmobil helicopter, I wanted the Medical one and I got the yellow one from the rescue team or something like that.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources, la Vache et le prisonnier , any Louis de Funès movies… not Christmas movies per say but that’s what you get on TV that time a year!  More recently I really liked Fred Claus with Vince Vaughn.  Haven’t seen the Charlie Brown  Movies.  Not a big fan of Christmas movies in general.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? A few weeks maybe a couple weeks before Christmas… 

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?  Probably

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? “Bûche de Noël“, Foie Gras, Langoustine, Truffes … and “vin chaud“

16. Lights on the tree? Absolutely

17. Favorite Christmas song? I like the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Let it snow, and Petit Papa Noël by Tino Rossi (The original, not the Josh Groban crap)… I should know more probably

18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home?  My family is far away so we usually travel but not this year. 

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? No, just Rudolph

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? A star

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Gifts appear under the tree overnight so Christmas morning

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? people’s anxiety around the Holidays

23. What theme or color are you using? Red and Silver for the tree

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? A peaceful and quiet snowy day.
